While U.K. users of 3G are being neglected as the networks do battle in the roll-out of 4G across our cities in Bangladesh, GrameenPhone launched it’s 3G sevice this month in Dhaka and is already expanding the network 3G coverage to selected areas of Sylhet and Chittagong which has to be great news for those regularly visiting Bangladesh and skyping home.
Claiming to be the first to launch commercial 3G in Sylhet, Grameen’s 3G service will be available in Mirabazar, Zindabazar, Chouhatta, Amberkhana, Karimullah Market, Porjoton and the airport plus Agrabad in Chittagong.
At the same time we have the announcment from Banglalink of commercial 3G rolling out in Dhaka and Chittagong with a wide range of packages including data allowances – from the basic @Player” rate with 50MB for TK30 to ‘Crazy Downloader’ with 5GB for TK950. In addition they offer a ‘Mega Download’ rate for users with 3g dongles or tablets with 10GB limit for TK 1,00 which makes sense in light of their special offer for purchaning the new Galaxy Note3 by monthly instalments. In Dhaka they are covering Gulshan, Banani, Banani Dohs, Baridhara and Motijheel. In Chittagong they too cover the Agrabad business district. Airtel has started a trial of 3G in Chittagong and Robi Axi has started 3G services in selected areas.
