A Special Visitor

Guest Gous Khan, Vice Chair Biswanath UpazillaRecently, the vice chairman of Biswanath Upazilla, Mr Gous Khan paid a flying visit to Oldham to meet with the people of Oldham and in particular to listen to suggestions from people who have orginated from Biswanath.  The event was facilitated by Abdul Malik, Oldham Bangladeshi Association and included other local dignitories including, Cllr Abdul Jabbar, Nazmul Islam, Abdul Monnan, Hafizur Rahman, Abdus Shahid, Montaz Ali Azad.
The speakers refered to Mr Gous Khan as a highly capable man who had been elected on the basis of his commitment and closeness to his local constituency in Biswanath.  He is an ex-pat who has lived in England for most of his life but retained a strong connection with home town.  The speakers highlighted the need for Biswanath to become a model town, due to the strong political influence including an member of Bangladesh Parliament, the Upazilla Chairman Mohibur Rahman and all three are from England.  Jamal Uddin also stressed that there was a clear need to sporting facilities in Biswanath that were world class and suggested the building of multi-purpose sports stadium which could be used for football, cricket and athletics, he also added the need for developing talented young people who showed great signs in sports.
Local people attended in significant numbers to listen to the guest and were not dissappointed to learn about the situation Biswanath and his interest in making a it a model town, however, it would not be easy and he sought support from people living abroad to come forward and support their work in Bangladesh.
