Asian Business Leaders Support Oldham’s Youth Zone

The 1st Asian Business Leaders networking event was held at the Blue Tiffin on Thursday 21st February. The event, which was sponsored by Oldham Business Leadership Group represented a mingling of the business elite with upcoming Asian and mainstream businesses interacting in the Blue Tiffin’s splendid entertainment lounge.   picture gallery below

Following the enthusiastic and friendly networking session – which packed the entertainment lounge –  the Exhibitors and guests moved into to the restaurant itself for inspirational speeches and a charity dinner for the benefit of MAHDLO – Oldham’s stunning Youth Zone which opened last year.

Speakers on the night were: Norman Stoller CBE President of Madhlo, Terry Flanagan chair of MAHDLO, Dave Bensted of OBLG and Azmat Mohammed of the Institute of Recruiters. Mood music for the evening was performed by Fonix Duo and the MC for the event was Dr Basma Elahi. Exhibitors at the at the event were Safeguard, Nissan, Groundwork, DSGN UK, Land Rover, Infinite Marketing and HSBC.  Once dinner and networking fans were satisfied the order of the day moved to fundraising and no charity event is complete without a raffle and an auction with which on this occasion raised £4,000 for MAHDLO and while the raffle prises from Nissan and Land-Rover were impressive, the star item was undoubtably the Limited Edition Manchester United Shirt which gained a fantastic £1,100 bid at auction.

In addition to the auction the evening also saw the first Asian Restaurants to sign up to the MAHDLO patrons scheme each pledging to donate £1,000 for each of the next 3 years – Blue Tiffin and Millon of Oldham and the Last Monsoon of Stockport, who also put in the winning bid for the Man U T-Shirt.

Also present and showing their support were Councillors Shoab Akhtar, Fidda Hussain, Kaiser Rahman, Montaz Ali Azad and Abdul Malik of Oldham Council, from Manchester Councillors Farooq Ahmed and Shefali Begum from Rochdale and Councillor Luthfur Rahman.

A terrific event for a good cause and one that raises the bar for Asian business events in Oldham.
