Bangladesh Boosts Children’s Reading Skills

On May 26th a competion to encourage reading by children was launched in Bangladesh at the National Press Club.

The contest “Citi Agameer Alo-2nd phase” – organised by The Bishwa Sahitya Kendra and Citibank NA Bangladesh in association with Citi Foundation and aims to improve reading, writing and communication skills throughout the country. At the launch the Bishwa Kendra President Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed stressed the importance of children’s participation in cultural activities.

10,000 students from 75 schools in Tangail, Sherpur and Chandpur will be involved in the book-reading competition, with a further 3,000 students from schools in Dhaka also taking part in the cultural competition.
