The Rochdale Bangladeshi Partnership Project (RBPP) welcomed the arrival of the Biswanath Press Club President – Mr Rofiqul Islam Jubayer. Upon arrival (8th June) he met up with the Rochdale Bangladeshi Partnership Project management for a “discussion meeting” at the Veenas Restaurant.
The RBPP members discussed with Mr Jubayer his visit to the UK, the situation in Bangladesh and how the RBPP can continue it’s work through the Rochdale & Sylhet Friendship Link. Mr Jubayer was appointed as the local organiser for RBPP in Sylhet after the visit to Bangladesh last year. The RBPP delegation led by the Mayor Cllr Keith Swift and Cllr Farooq Ahmed visited Sylhet to adjoin Sylhet with Rochdale as a friendship link. He was invited to Rochdale to come and see how things are over here, which will allow for sharing good practice.
The Vice Chairperson, Dr Musharraf Hussain said: “On behalf of the Rochdale Bangladeshi Partnership Project/Rochdale & Sylhet Friendship Link I would like to welcome Mr Jubayer to Rochdale. We have a programme for his visit to ensure that it is fruitful – showing him our borough and the initiatives we are working with. We will be hosting a grand reception so that the whole community can meet him.”
Mohammed Dobir Miah (Secretary of RBPP) added: “Mr Jubayer and his colleagues at the Biswanath Press Club have been great friends of the Rochdale Bangladeshi Partnership Project. We are really grateful to them and we hope that this visit only strengthens these ties and thus allows us to continue with our projects between Rochdale and Sylhet.”
