The 5th Clemon Mega Beach Carnival kicked off at Laboni Beach, the longest sandy beach at Cox’s Bazar on March 25. The four day event which co-incided with independence celebrations was broadcast on NTV with an entertainment line-up including Nirjhor, Mila, Prometheus And More. The live concert was enjoyed by an audience of approx 300,000.
Clemon are known for their associations with sports such as Cricket and Cycling such as the 2010 Sylhet-Cox’s Bazar tour organised by xperime from the UK – and sports were were much in evidence at the event too. The carnival was opened by Manwara Begum, wife of founder of Akij Group – parent company of Clemon, featuring attractions such as jet ski, kite flying, tracking, rally and surfing in addition to the concert.
Speaking at the Clemon Gala Night on March 25, Sheikh Shamim Uddin, Director of Akij Food and Beverage Ltd, said they were happy to organise the carnival for the fifth time for recreation of the people and hope to continue it in future, too.
