The Climate Warriors Dinner at Vermilion was attended by special guests speaking for the cause who included Sir Gerald Kaufman, Shobna Gulati, and representatives from Manchester Council.
The function suite was packed with guests to raise money for an Eco-awareness trip to Bangladesh. Young footballers from Longsight’s Manchester Athletic Football Club will be going there to play football and to learn first-hand of the impact of climate change on countries in the front-line like Bangladesh where flooding is an annual event and set to increase in severity. It will be will provide a great opportunity for the players to learn about both the environment and other cultures.
The event was hosted by Cllr Luthfur Rahman and Rose Battle who are organising the trip. Speaking at the event actor Shobna Gulati said she would be going along if her work on Corrie permitted. A raffle was held as part of the fund-raising side of the dinner and entertainment was provided by comedian Zoe Iqbal.
