Extra Time Excitement At OMC Charity Football Festival

The Oldham Muslim Centre’s ‘Football Festival’ Charity Tournament took place on Sunday 2nd May, sponsored by Tesco Extra, Huddersfield Road.  The first of its kind in Oldham, the tournament at Grange School brought together twenty four teams of different backgrounds to battle it out for title of champions of the ‘Football Festival 2010’.

AFC Real Bengal took the cup, beating Mashoor in a penalty shoot out, after a 1-1 draw took the match into extra time. The man of the match ws Forhad of Real Bengal and the Fair Play award went to local youngsters Kickz.
Event Organiser Ruhel Khan Said “was excellent so many people coming out to support all the teams. The Football Festival provided a great spectacle of raw talent, hopefully this event is a first of a annual event”

Sirajul Islam, OMC Chair said “it is excellent for a event like this to raise a substantial amount of money for charity. All the hard work put in my our volunteers is for everyone to see and i thank all of them for their efforts. I would also like thank all the sponsors for their support”

Mike Andrew, marketing manager at Tesco Extra Huddersfield Road said “Tesco are proud to support such a worthwhile community event, and I was delighted to see so many talented players on one pitch.”
