First Bangladesh Film Festival in New Delhi.

Bangla Delhi Film FestivalFor the first time a Bangladesh film festival is taking place in India. The Festival at Siri Fort Auditorium in New Delhi, organised by the Indian Directorate of Film Festivals and the Bangladesh High Commission starts today (16th) and will run for 3 days to 18th of April. Counsellor Mahbub Hassan Saleh of the Bangladesh High Commission’s, who has been coordinating with the Indian authorities said, “This is the first-ever Bangladesh film festival here…We invite everyone to come for the movies, as it is free and open to all.”
The festival will screen seven films from the last decade over the 3 days: Ontorjatra (The Inner Journey), Joyjatra, Bachelor, Rupkathar Golpo, Aha (directed and featuring Sarah Kabori), Ayna (Mirror) and Matir Moina (The Clay Bird) – a film once banned in Bangladesh that went on to win t0 win the International Critics’ Prize for best film in the Directors’ Fortnight Section at Cannes.
In addition to celebrating the art of film the festival aims to foster greater cultural interchange between the two neighbouring countries. A range of talent from Bangladesh will be participating in the festival including actor, director and MP Sarah Kabori, Aridur Reza Sagar of Impress Telefilm, actor/director Tauquir Ahmed and up and coming next-gen actors Aupee and Shahidul Alam.
