Novotel, the well known hotel chain is to open its first hotels in Bangladesh. Novotel, which is a brand of french company Accor will be opening hotels in Dhaka and Chittagong with 350 rooms. Additionally there are 11 new establishments planned for India under the Novotel, Ibis and Formule 1 brands. This will give Accor a 20 hotels in India up amounting to an an investment of $250 in the country.
According to Chair and CEO of Accor Asia-Pacific Michael Issenberg the region is an important area of growth and that Bangladesh is seen as “A tremendous opportunity for expansion.”
Indeed, the whole region would appear to hold opportunities for growth for the company as confirmed by Lokesh Sabharwal, Accor’s VP for Development in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka who says the company has “agreements for new hotels in Chennai, Hyderabad, Goa, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Nasik, Tiruchirappalli, Dhaka and Chittagong (Bangladesh)”
