While HTC have a line up of successful top level Android smartphones, the original entry-level Tattoo never quite made it’s mark. HTC aims to fix that with this hot new, consumer-friendly, socially plugged-in successor.
Wildfire runs Android 2.1 with HTC’s nifty Sense overlay. It comes with a new “Sharing Widget” allowing apps to be recommended to friends by email, text, or via social networks. Another app – Friend Stream ties together addresses, calls, message histories, Flickrs and Twitters. It will even pull up the Facebook profile for an incoming caller.
Equipped with a 3.2 inch QVGA capacitive screen, optical trackpad, 3.5mm headphone jack, 5 Meg camera with flash, Wifi and GPS, Wildfire is powered by the same 528MHZ processor as the Hero.
The Wildfire will come in Brown, Red, Black and White and will be available in the UK next month on T-Mobile (from £20 month) and Virgin.
