The first Fit4Work scheme places available at present are as follows:
STA Pool Lifeguard
The work experience placement will commence on Monday, 15th of October 2012 and finish on Saturday, 17th of November 2012.
The training course will take place on Monday, 29th of October 2012 to Saturday, 3rd November 2012.
Pre-requisites for the course are be able to swim 100m on front and back, swim 50 in 1 minute and surface dive to recover an object from the bottom of the pool. Candidates must be 16 or over to apply. Please note that there will be a competency test to check eligibility prior to places being offered.
Swim Teacher (Parent and Baby)
The work experience placement will begin on Monday, 15th of October and will end on Thursday, 15th of November 2012.
The training course will run from Friday, 16th to Sunday, 18th of November 2012.
Closing date for applications are Wednesday, 10th of October 2012.

Oldham Community Leisure’s Fit4Work scheme aims to improve the employability of Oldham residents who are out of work. The scheme involves offering a limited number of places on Nationally recognised leisure-related qualifications, tied in with on-the-job volunteer hours to gain hands on experience in the role in the run up to taking the training course. Following completion of the work experience (minimum 5 weeks) and qualification, we guarantee an interview for any casual hours in a paid role as soon as one becomes available. Work experience hours are flexible and it’s a fantastic opportunity to take the first steps to a career in the Leisure Industry.
Oldham Community Leisure are committed to helping to regenerate the town and to kick-start the job prospects of Oldham residents looking for work, so eligibility is restricted to those who:
A) Are claiming job-seekers allowance
B) Live in Oldham (evidenced by proof of address with an Oldham postcode)
