Oldham Academy North Collects for Sightsavers

Colette Burgess, Principal, The Oldham Academy North, Les Hardy (Sightsavers), Muzahid KhanSight Savers charity were in the Oldham Academy North on Monday 17th January 2011 to collect a huge cheque of over £500 for money collected by the students to give vital sight saving operations to their counterparts in the 3rd world.  Les Hardy, volunteer for the Charity thanked the students “on behalf of all those people who would never meet you but are ever so grateful for what you have given them!”

Representing BRAC UK – Muzahid Khan also spoke about his 500 mile cycle trip across Bangladesh in support of the charity.

Muzahid spoke inspiringly about being an ex-student “25 years ago”  at the former Grange which is now The Oldham Academy North.

Nazia Begum (Strinesdale House), Ameerun Nessa (Medlock House)

Students Ameerun Nessa (Medlock House)and Nazia Begum (Strinesdale House) won the Wacky Glasses competion which was ran to promote the awareness of the charity.
