Singerkach Committee Celebrates the Start of Building Their Clinic

In February, work started on the medical centre being built by the Oldham based Singerkach Development Committee.

It’s been a long time coming, but it’s really happening and the site was officially inaugurated and work began in February this year. The first pilings were put in the ground as a base for the foundations of the building – so there was good reason to celebrate! While the committee is based in Westwood, Oldham supporters came from around the country and from Bangladesh to share their enthusiasm. One such visitor was writer Abdul Hadi who launched his new book on the occasion. Noted guests, local councillors and businesses took the mic to voice their support for the committee, the project and to pledge donations.(jump to the Gallery↓)

The Bangladesh inauguration and site visit video plus a new gallery of photos taken at the building site in March can be viewed on the website.

The event opened with a recitation by Moulana Afiz Ali hilighting the spiritual and religious perspective on helping the poor and needy. The celebrations and presentations began with a video compilation of footage from Bangladesh taken on site by Azmot Khan – one of the team present at the inauguration and the installation of the pilings. This was followed by a powerpoint by Muz Khan showing a breakdown of the contruction phases and costs of the project. Later a video of the committee’s recent visit to the JTV studio where they discussed the project in a live TV programme on ATN was also shown.
