Oscar Style – The celebrations at Oldham’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, were fashioned after the Oscars with each table having an movie themed title and a general air of glitz and glamour. There were some great dance acts, live Jazz and guitar performances. But first the guests had to run a gauntlet of paprazzi flash photography and media-star interviews a’la Leicester Square on the red carpet leading into the event. Truly a touch of Hollywood with lights, cameras and champagne. During the course of the 3-course dinner provided by Ashton’s Indian Ocean restaurant, the audience were treated to an evening of great entertainment and awards presentations to young achievers and Square’s partner organisations.
“I’ve known Square 1 Studios since it was formed, it’s great to see it develop and grow this far and take so many young people along with it. It was also amazing to see local young people showing off their talent, it’s something we should be proud of as Oldhamers.”
Councillor Shoaib Akhtar, Deputy Leader of Oldham Council
“The whole evening was wonderful. It was so well planned and organised, from the entertainment, the red carpet, the beautifully laid tables to the delicious food. My husband and I felt very proud when our son won an Achiever of The Year Award and more importantly it made our son feel really proud and special too.”
Guest and parent
“This is by far our greatest achievement to date; surviving, developing and growing a grass root community organisation for 5 years. Tonight we have had the chance to showcase the music we create, the musicians we generate and show the audience how we have been a platform for the music scene in Oldham”
Sam Malik Chief Executive, Square 1 Studios
