As Spring and the wedding season approaches we first arrive at the Wedding Fair season, when wedding services and suppliers show their stuff at exhibitions around the country. – Jump to: Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester
On the 2nd February Sheffield held its first Asian Wedding fair in the unusual and spacious setting of Magna – a Science Museum housed in a former steelworks in Rotherham. The event took place in a large exhibition hall where one limo hire company was able show off several rather large white Rolls-Royces. Along with the expected fashion and makeup services of offer we also saw suppliers of firework displays which seemed appropriate in a former steel-mill.
This show also offered a special attraction in the performance of Britain’s Got Talent stars – Signature the popular Michael Jackson Tribute act who said thet they “called in on their day off” to support the event which was attended with a constant stream of visitors arriving throughout the day.
Also on the 2nd the National Asian Wedding Fair Midlands was held at the National Motorcycle Museum just off the motorway, Birmingham. This was a smaller venue but featured a packed exhibition with very high grade services on offer also with a constant flow of visitors arriving filling the museums car-park until closing.
In Manchester on the 16th we saw the Asian Wedding Experience at the very central location of the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel. This too was filled with premium services for photography, staging, catering, decor, wedding fashions and makeup. We were pleased to see the Amana Foundation present as charity partner who had been helping to promote the event handing out goody bags at the entrance and with a stand of their own inside getting good exposure to the crowds of Manchester visitors to the show.
Each event while having all the expected features had a unique approach and flavour imparted by the location and styling, most markedly the post-industrial setting of Magna -top marks to Sheffield for originality. For exhibitors and organisers alike, the choice of location must play an important part in the success of these shows and each had strategic feature working fo it, Sheffield no so easy to find track but definately an attention getting with a headline act on stage. Birmingham, motorway accessability and smart venue, Manchester, a very central location to pull in visitors from around the region. In all cases the wedding fairs appeared to deliver interested, select and serious visitors shopping with purpose.
