X Factor hopeful makes boot camp

A ROSSENDALE songstress has won a place in the X Factor boot camp after impressing the show’s celebrity judges.
Taslima Bibi, of Rawtenstall, came face to face with the hard to please panel after making it through three earlier auditions with her rendition of Don’t Play Nice by R and B outfit Verbalicious.
The 16-year-old singer travelled to Manchester for the nerve-wracking encounter with judges Louis Walsh, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and sharpe-tongued Simon Cowell – who each gave her the nod to go through to the next stage after seeing her perform.
An excited Taslima, who has just sat her GCSEs at Haslingden High School, said: ‘I was really nervous leading up to the audition and on the day I would switch from being calm one minute and then really nervous the next.’
She added: ‘Just before I went in I couldn’t calm myself down, but once I started performing it was really good. The feedback from the judges was really positive; they said my rapping was amazing and my singing was really good.’
The self-taught singer was keeping tight-lipped about the boot camp stage, which sees the judges whittle down the contestants through a series of tough singing challenges, but admitted she was feeling confident.
‘I know I have some work to do on my singing, but I am excited about the next stage and I am feeling more calm than I was before,’ she added.
‘It is the judges’ decision now and, if they like me, then hopefully I could be representing Rossendale in the X Factor.’
And in preparation for her boot camp experience, Pelo, on Bank Street, Rawtenstall, gave Taslima a free haircut and manicure to show its support for the rising star.
The new series of X Factor is in ITV.
