December 2012 – January 2013 (During Christmas and New Year Holiday)
A life time opportunity for 3 weeks study in China and an opportunity to exploring rich Chinese Culture and History

Students eligible:

If you are full time Undergraduate Degree, Master’s, PGCE, PhD, Nursing Diploma, Foundation Degree, HND. Home or European Students, (International students not eligible)

The following costs are all covered by the government sponsors:

Accommodation for the duration of the programme, Airport pick-up and drop off (on specific dates), Tuition of language and academic courses, Activities and associated trips, Contribution towards food/travel/mobile phone minutes

Costs which you will need to fund:

Flights (estimated at £500-£600),

Chinese Visa (£66 approx),

Spending money (average £300),

Travel Insurance,



Activities undertaken in free time,

These estimated costs to be funded by you will be in the range of £900 to £1100


Study China Programme offers 60 Widening Participation bursaries for each academic year. Undergraduates can apply for a bursary of £350. Applicants will be asked to submit evidence confirming receipt of Widening Participation support, a student maintenance grant and parental income. Due to the nature of Widening Participation bursary, postgraduate applicants are not eligible to apply. You will be notified prior to departure if you have been awarded a bursary. Bursaries are paid after the programme has been successfully completed, therefore you would receive £350 in January 2013

Alternative funding and bursary options:

Several universities are now providing funding and assistance specifically for this programme. We recommend you contact the following departments as soon as you have been offered a place: International Office, School Office, and Careers Office. We will provide you with a letter of acceptance onto the programme for correspondence with the above departments.
